How To Create An Itinerary On An Android Phone

One of the best features of Witur is the ability to create and update an itinerary on the go.  You can do this with either an iPhone or an Android phone (and you can find those apps by clicking on the links).  In this particular post, you'll find directions for creating an itinerary on your Android phone.  If you're interested in creating an itinerary on your iPhone phone, click here.

First, you need to download and install the app.  You can do this by clicking here.  When you open the application, select "Sign In" from this screen:

Then, log in with your Witur account information, or create a new Witur account if you're not already a user, from this screen:

Once you do that, you will be taken to this screen:

From this screen, you can press "My Travel Diary" to see a list of all of your itineraries you've ever created.  You can press "My Messages" to see your Witur inbox.  You can also press "Create Itinerary" or get help.  Since this post is all about creating a new itinerary, let's press "Create Itinerary."  When you do that, you will be taken to a screen that looks like this:

From this starting screen, you can enter a summary of your itinerary, which will be the first page people see when looking up your itinerary online.  Where it says "Title," that is where you enter the title of your itinerary.  Under "Description," you can type a few sentences telling people about your trip overall.  If you select where it says "Add Photo," you can add a picture for the front page of your itinerary.  You also must decide if you want your itinerary to be in English, Spanish, or German and whether or not it is private.  You must make the itinerary public if you want your itinerary to be seen by other Witur users, friends, and family. If you make it private, only people to whom you send the link will be able to see the itinerary.  Finally, choose a category from your itinerary from the rolling menu in the bottom half of the screen.  Here is an example of what this screen looks like filled out:

Once you choose all of these settings, and you're ready to create a stage, press "Save and Create Stage" in the bottom, left corner of the screen.  You will be taken to a screen for you to enter the information for your first stage:

On this screen, you need to add a title for your stage at the top of the screen, and you can add a description of the stage as well as a picture.  This picture can be taken right from within the app, or you can choose to upload an already existing picture from your phone.  You can then use the sliding bar on the bottom of the screen to show how long you spent at that stage.  The location accuracy section tells you how close Witur will get to your actual location on the map.  If it says "Bad," just wait a few seconds until it changes to "Fair," "Good," or "Excellent.  The higher the rating, the closer the app will get to your actual location.  If you check later and the location isn't quite right, you can always change it from the website.  Here is an example of what the screen looks like when it is filled out:

Once you're finished with your stage, you can either select "Save and Next Stage" if you want to add another stage, or you can select "Save and Close" if you are finished adding stages for now.  If you select "Save and Close," you will be taken back to the main screen where your new itinerary will be visible:

Now, you can see that there is one stage that you've just created, and that stage is unpublished.  This means that no one can see this stage yet.  From here, you can add a new stage by selecting the button that looks like a plus sign.  You can also delete the entire itinerary by selecting the trash icon, or you can see more options by selecting the "More" button.

If you are ready to publish your stage (or stages) so people can see them, select the second icon within the Active Itinerary window (that looks like a little piece of paper with an arrow pointing up).  This will bring up this menu:

From here, you can publish the stages so people can view them, you can recover previous stages, add stages, or publish stages you haven't published yet.  "Unpublished Stages," you will be taken to a list of all of your itineraries that have unpublished stages.   If you only have one itinerary that has stages you haven't yet published, you'll be taken to a list of those stages.  Here is what the list of your itineraries looks like:

From here, you can bring up the menu to add a stage:

Or you can bring up the options, which will allow you to edit, publish, or discard stages:

From this list, you can select "Edit" from the top of the list.  This will bring you to a screen where you can edit the selected stage:

When you're finished, select "Update."  Then, you'll be taken back to the home screen.  From there, bring up the menu, then select "Publish."

When you've published the data, your friends and family will be able to see your progress through your trip!  You can use these steps to create as many stages as you wish.

If you have any questions about how to use the Android app, try the Help menu first.  If you can't find what you're looking for there, put a comment here or e-mail support@witur.com.

Safe travels!
